When it comes to making your own Christmas decorations there’s nothing quite like capturing a moment in time, which is so easy to do with these salt dough kid’s handprint Christmas crafts.

You can hang them as ornaments from the tree, sit them on the mantel, or wrap them in tissue paper and give them to Granny as a Christmas gift she’ll treasure forever!

Of course it’s not just handprints you can make ornaments with, your children can use their fingerprints and footprints too!

I found 10 adorable ornaments to make with your kids with everything from robins and snowmen to gingerbread men and even a reindeer!

Easy Salt Dough Recipe

Salt Dough Ingredients

  • 1 cup of salt
  • 2 cups of plain flour
  • 3/4 cup of boiling water
  • Acrylic paints
  • PVA to seal

Salt Dough Recipe Instructions

  1. Mix the salt and plain flour together in a mixing bowl and gradually stir in the boiling water.
  2. Keep mixing until it begins to form a dough, just make sure it isn’t too sticky.
  3. Use the dough to make your Christmas ornaments.
  4. Use a straw to put a hole through the dough so you can hang it up with a ribbon.
  5. Air dry overnight.
  6. Preheat the oven to 120 degrees (C) and bake your creations for three hours.
  7. Air dry overnight again.
  8. Decorate with acrylic paints and allow to dry.
  9. Seal with PVA glue.

I couldn’t resist pulling together a collection of the best Christmas slime recipes! I found everything from Santa Suit Slime and Christmas Tree Slime to Snow Slime, oh and my favourite the Christmas Explosion Slime!

Let your kids have fun making their own slime before playing with it, or have them fill up some jelly jars so they can give slime gifts to their friends!

Christmas slime makes a brilliant stocking stuffer or Christmas party favor!

Whichever slime recipe you choose just remember that there’s only one glue when it comes to making slime and that’s Elmer’s. Grab some from your local store, or if they’ve sold out (Elmer’s is a little like gold dust these days) order some from Amazon instead!
